Created as a birthday gift for my mom, a fresh watercolor take with a more feminine face than the original album art of Frandsen-De Schomberg on "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" a double album by the English-American blues rock band, Derek and the Dominos.
Released in November 1970, it is best known for its title track, "Layla" and is often regarded as Eric Clapton's greatest musical achievement. Dwayne Allman also contributed guitar tracks on several Clapton recordings, influencing the British musician with a signature southern style of slide guitar. My Mom has been a long-time supporter of my artistic pursuits and the two of us have been to more concerts involving the Allman Brother's Band than any other live act. Creating this painting was a fitting tribute to her love of music and art which was then passed down to my brother and me.
